Department Marketing Statement The Department of Advanced Studies and Innovation in the College of Education at Augusta University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Counselor Education. While the position is intended to be filled at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, the rank of Assistant Professor will be considered for outstanding candidates. The start date for this position is August 1, 2018. Review begins January 1 and will continue until the position is filled. The Department of Advanced Studies and Innovation (ASI) offers the Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Counselor Education (School and Clinical Mental Health Counseling), the Education Specialist (Ed.S.) in Counselor Education, and Curriculum and Instruction, and the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Innovation with programs accredited by CACREP, NCATE (CAEP), the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, and the Southern Association of Colleges and Universities. The department also houses the research and foundations courses that serve the entire college. ASI has recently experienced extraordinary growth in our research productivity, grant activity, and awards for teaching excellence. We have strong, collaborative relationships with school districts, community partners, and national organizations. The department resides in the College of Education located on the picturesque Summerville campus. Job Information Job ID: 13649 Position # 00010968 Responsibilities include: 1) developing and teaching graduate-level introductory and advanced courses in our CACREP-approved Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling and Counselor Education programs, as well as advising and supervising practicum and internship student placements; 2) conducting and supervising research; and 3) providing service to the college, the university, the community, and the profession. The position requires the candidate to maintain an active research agenda, including regular publications, professional presentations, and grant submissions. Candidates should be prepared to deliver courses through a variety of formats (online, hybrid, and face-to-face). Minimum Requirements We invite applications from candidates with an earned doctorate (or ABD with defense date confirmed) in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program. Applicants must have work experience in community, school, and/or higher education settings, and be eligible for certification as a National Certified Counselor, a certified school counselor, and/or LPC in the state of Georgia. The successful candidate is expected to have begun development on a robust research agenda with the potential for developing a national and/or international reputation and will possess a research record that demonstrates potential for obtaining research funding. Preference will be given to candidates with an identified substantive area of interest, teaching experience at the graduate level, experience engaging in research in P-20 and/or clinical settings, interest in developing a doctoral program, and a demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty and to mentor students.
